This year is whizzing past so quickly that we are nearly into Autumn! Before we know it, it’ll be Christmas! A change of season brings a change of weather, and more challenges to keeping offices and workplaces clean.

From fallen dry leaves and grass, to mud and dirt, there are many things that may make your workplace cleanliness harder to maintain.

Autumn Cleaning Tip 1: Door Mats

Whether your workplace has a carpet, tiles or wooden floor, it would be beneficial to have floor mats at the entrance. No matter how hard your employees may try, not everyone can avoid every trace of dirt, grass or fallen leaves as they make their way into the workplace. Even if people forget to wipe their feet, a few steps on the door mats will trap in dirt, leaves and germs that would otherwise be taken into the workplace.

Autumn Cleaning Tip 2: Light Fixtures

Unfortunately, the weather may become gloomier over the next few months so it is likely that you will need to have your workplace lights on more. Cleaning your ceiling-mounted light fixtures is probably one of those areas that gets forgotten, but is just as important as any other. Who wants dust falling on their head at work?! You can clean any dust off light covers with a microfibre cloth or if they are particularly dirty, remove the fixture cover safely and wash with a soft cloth or damp sponge.

Autumn Cleaning Tip 3: Windows

Windows are one of the first things a customer sees when approaching your business so it is important to keep them clean at all times of the year. In Autumn particularly, dirty windows will decrease the amount of sunlight let into the office, and it may cause employees to become a little gloomy themselves. So make sure they are cleaned regularly to let every bit of sunlight in to brighten everyone’s day!

Autumn Cleaning Tip 4: Air Quality

With the cooler weather, you are more likely to keep doors and windows shut, and use an air conditioning system. Ensure that your system has been cleaned recently to ensure that a clean and fresh supply of air is being delivered throughout your office to minimise the spread of germs.

Autumn Cleaning Tip 5: Health First

This time of year is well-known for an increase in colds, flu, germs and winter allergies. To keep your employees as healthy as possible, and save your business money in the long-term, invest in a regular cleaning programme that suits you. You may be able to do this using internal resources, or it may be that hiring commercial cleaners will be most beneficial for your business.
