With Spring officially only 2 weeks away, now is the time many people start to think about Spring Cleaning. But how many of you Spring Clean your offices as well as your homes?

Clutter within your office and on your desk can lead to chaotic working practices and potential health and safety issues. And it has been said that you work better in a clean, organised environment.

So what can you do to Spring Clean your office?

1. The first rule of spring cleaning – decide what you need to keep, what can be thrown away and what can be filed…and then action it!

2. Clear your desk…keep only what you need. Keep the essentials only such as your laptop or monitor, keyboard and mouse, telephone, notebook and a couple of pens. How long has that coffee cup been sat on your desk?!

3. Avoid paper clutter! A paperless office sounds attractive but it isn’t realistic! Have baskets or trays labelled with ‘to do’ or ‘to file’ to keep your paperwork in check.

4. Clean out your desk drawers! We are all guilty of having that drawer which ‘hides’ all the clutter! Do you even know what is in there? Try to clean it out once a month…especially if you keep snacks in there!

5. Clean up your digital clutter! If you can’t see your desktop wallpaper due to an overload of icons…clear it up! Not only will it de-clutter your brain, but it will also help you to be more efficient.

6. Hang up your coats and bags. Coats thrown over the back of your chair and handbags on your desk or on the floor don’t just look messy but they can also be a trip hazard. Make sure they have somewhere to hang up neatly out of the way.

And once this has all been done, your office will be a nice, tidy, organised space that can be cleaned more easily. Then all in all, you will have a more productive and hygienic work environment.

So make time to spring clean your office this March.

And if you need a hand with your office cleaning, please just give us a call.

Until next time,
Debbie.
